HYMENSO final meeting, 18-19/10/2018, Patras, Greece

The final meeting of HYMENSO project took place at the premises of the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics, University of Patras, Greece. Prof. Andreas Kazantzidis welcomed all the participants. Fruitful discussions across all Work Packages and about the final details for the closing of the project happened for 2 days, accompanied by a short visit to the research facilities of the University of Patras. Moreover, all partners proposed future activities for the continuation of the HYMENSO dissemination as well as financing opportunities in forthcoming calls.

15/10/2018: HYMENSO is presented in COMECAP 2018

HYMENSO was presented in the international Conference on Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Physics, 15-17/10/2018, Alexandroupolis, Greece, by Prof. Andreas Kazantzidis, University of Patras, Greece.

The EMS Annual Meeting 2018 was attended by almost 200 participants. The HYMENSO oral was presented in session: Observational Techniques from the ground and space/Satellite Meteorology and Climatology.

 

7/9/2018: HYMENSO is presented in the EMS Annual Meeting 2018

HYMENSO was presented in the Annual Meeting of European Meteorological Society (EMS) with title: European Conference for Applied Meteorology and Climatology 2018,  3–7 September 2018, Budapest, Hungary by Prof. Andreas Kazantzidis, University of Patras, Greece.

The EMS Annual Meeting 2018 was attended by 732 participants from 50 countries. The HYMENSO poster (entitled: Solar resource for combined CSP-PV plants across the MENA region) was presented in session: Energy Meteorology, under the Operational Systems and Applications (OSA) program stream.

20/7/2018: HYMENSO presentation during the DLR Solar Colloquium 2018

Once a year, the DLR Institute of Solar Research invites experts and interested researchers, industry representatives and government representatives to the Cologne Solar Colloquium at DLR’s Cologne headquarters. At this concentrating solar technologies scientific colloquium, DLR scientists and their cooperation partners, together with industry experts, present the latest research and development findings for an annually changing topic.

With over 100 participants, the event is the largest German-speaking industry event for solar thermal power plant technologies. The colloquium provides speakers and participants with a forum for professional exchange, stimulating discussions and the development of networks. The focus of the 2018 Solar Colloquium is ‘more electricity from the Sun – intelligent operating and maintenance procedures in the solar thermal power plant’.

SAM Workshop, 9/7/2018, The University of Jordan – European Projects Office

Training workshop held in The University of Jordan in July 9, 2018, presented by Eng. Abdullah Abu Baker, as a part of work in HYMENSO project.

This workshop aim to introduce to audience how to simulate Photovoltaic power plant & concentrated power plant by using SAM software, the audience was Postgraduate Students from the School of Engineering.

05/04/2018 - HYMENSO is presented in 6th Global Conference of Renewables and Energy Efficiency for Desert Regions (GCREEDER 2018), April 3rd-5th 2018, Amman, Jordan

HYMENSO was presented during the GCREEDER 2018 at the premises of the University of Jordan. On April 3rd, there was an oral presentation by the coordinator Dr. Benitez with title: “Combined CSP-PV plants for MENA Region”. The conference was followed by more than 200 participants and many of them took the opportunity to ask the HYMENSO partners for more details as well as propose new ideas for further collaboration. HYMENSO was disseminated via the official communication material, constituted by leaflets and a roll-up.

Moreover, a 3 hours workshop for HYMENSO took place on April 4th. The workshop provided practical training on Greenius Software (http://freegreenius.dlr.de/) , while the recent advancements in combined CSP-PV plant performance due to HYMENSO were highlighted. More than 30 early stage scientists followed the HYMENSO workshop.

3rd management meeting for HYMENSO

Was organized and hosted by The University of Jordan on the 14-15/3/2018. The meeting lasted for two days, where the project manager at the University of Jordan, Dr. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh, started a welcoming speech to the participants then the meeting complete to discuss the work plan for the project.

24/2/2018 - HYMENSO is presented in the Final ERANETMED event

HYMENSO will be presented on the Final ERANETMED event, March 5th – 7th in Aqaba, Jordan, by Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh, University of Jordan. Our project has been selected for a longer presentation on the third day at the Final ERANETMED Event since it has been considered as a success story from the valuable scientific output and technological attractiveness.

10/10/2017 - HYMENSO is presented in 9th Egyptian-German Renewables Day

HYMENSO was presented during the 9th Egyptian-German Renewables Day, on the 9th October, at the premises of the DAAD Cairo Office. With more than 50 participants the event served as an interface between science and business and many participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas about future projects. Seven scientific posters were presented and eight business companies were keen to display their energy activities and projects (https://www.daad.eg/en/about-us/cosimena/energy-cluster/).

6/10/2017 - HYMENSO 2nd Meeting

HYMENSO 2nd Meeting was organized and hosted by CRTEn in Tunis, on the 4-5 October. All participants Welcomedby CRTEn General Director Prof.Bessais. The progress of the project so far and the next steps were discussed thoroughly.

30/6/2017 – HYMENSO is presented in the 4th International Conference Energy & Meteorology (ICEM 2017, http://www.wemcouncil.org/wp/icem2017/)

HYMENSO was presented in the 4th International Conference Energy & Meteorology, 27-29 June 2017, Bari, Italy by Prof. Andreas Kazantzidis, University of Patras, Greece. The conference theme was: “Challenges in Weather and Climate Services for Energy”.

ICEM focuses on:

· Optimizing the exchange of information between the energy and the weather & climate sectors

· Learning about the latest and detailed updates in the science, policy, planning and operations in the fields of energy and meteorology

· Finding solutions for common issues encountered by utilities experts, weather specialists and climate scientists by working together

· Enhancing collaboration opportunities between energy  and meteorology experts/organisations, including attracting wider contributions to WEMC to broaden its base
